Y llegó la hora en que el hacha pequeña empieza a talar el árbol grande, amigos. ¿Podemos o no podemos? Si Pablo Iglesias fuese un verdadero revolucionario, en lugar de cerrar los mítines con viejas canciones de Lluís Llach debería poner a todo volumen el nuevo disco de Sanjays: “Food and milk for our babies” .

En realidad, a la banda le apetecía seguir de fiesta, pero llegó la hora de luchar. Como en los duros años que siguieron al crack del 29, como los mineros en la Britania de Thatcher. Como tras la estafa neoliberal que estamos sufriendo ahora mismo. Este es el disco guerrillero de Sanjays, igual de trepidante que siempre, sí, pero esta vez invita a ponerse de pie no solo para bailar. Siguiendo la estela de bandas como los Housemartins o los Smiths, Sanjays abrazan el mensaje político sin desdeñar la magia de un single pegadizo.

Porque con su tercer disco, Sanjays han logrado una poderosa definición en su sonido, que se mira sin contemplaciones en el espejo de la escena pop internacional. En un viaje de ida y vuelta apabullante desde el pop bailable de nuestros días hasta la new wave de los primeros 80, el indie de los 90 o incluso los ecos de guitarras de los 60, Sanjays consiguen sublimar múltiples referentes (de LCD Soundsystem a Pavement, de !!! a The B-52's, de Los Campesinos a MGMT) para llevarlos a su propio terreno y obtener un sonido fresco, pegadizo y con personalidad, donde los sintetizadores y guitarras juegan con una sección rítmica llena de groove, sobre los que se asientan los juegos de voces masculinas y femeninas, marca de la casa. El resultado es un arrebatado compendio de instantáneas sónicas, dispuestas a incendiar festivales, clubs y salas de conciertos.

“Food and milk for our babies” se abre ya con una declaración de principios (“In war against power”) para más tarde abrazar otras denuncias de distinta índole social (“Cardenalis intraanalis”, el título no deja lugar a dudas). Aunque es en el primer single “Race for peace” dónde mensaje y hitazo llegan a la máxima simbiosis. El disco esconde también temazos de pop urgente (“The last summer”, “Lessons” o las imparables "Fenilefrine" y "God does not exist") al lado de medios tiempos igualmente adictivos (sensuales en “Save your game”, hipnóticos en “Keep warning”). En definitiva, un trabajo poderoso y maduro de una banda que se encuentra en su mejor momento.
